SacRT Crash Kills Pedestrian near Club Ctr, Banfield Dr in Natomas Park

Natomas, CA – According to The Sacramento Bee, a man in his 60s lost his life on Monday morning, September 9, 2024, after being struck by a Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) shuttle bus in the North Natomas neighborhood. The fatal collision occurred around 8:50 AM near Club Center and Banfield Drives in the residential area of Natomas Park.

Sacramento Police officers and emergency personnel responded to reports of the crash and found the man at the scene. Sadly, despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead. The shuttle bus driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity once his family has been notified.

The shuttle involved was part of SacRT’s Smart Ride On-Demand Transit service, a system similar to ride-share services, where passengers request pickups via a smartphone app. SacRT spokesperson Devra Selenis confirmed that no other injuries were reported in the collision and that further details are still under investigation.

Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims

Motorists bear an added responsibility, known as the “Duty of Care,” towards pedestrians due to their heightened vulnerability in car accidents, often leading to pedestrian fatalities.

For those who have lost someone in a vehicular fatality, a Wrongful Death claim, made with the help of an experienced personal injury attorney, can provide compensation to alleviate the financial strain of laying their loved one to rest.

If the at-fault driver evades legal consequences, compensation might still be accessible through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Seeking advice from a personal injury attorney can help ascertain the most suitable options in such circumstances.
