Fresno County, CA – The search is on for a big rig truck driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that left two brothers injured on Wednesday night, December 4, 2024, according to ABC30.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash occurred around 8:30 PM near the intersection of North and Temperance Avenues.
Investigations indicate that a red big rig truck with a white trailer ran a stop sign, causing a pickup truck to collide with the side of the trailer. The big rig driver fled the scene without stopping.
The occupants of the pickup, a 20-year-old man and his younger teenage brother, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their identities have not been released.
CHP officials have described the big rig as having damage to the right side of its trailer. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver to come forward to aid in the investigation.
California Hit-and-Run Laws
California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
However, insurance companies often try to deny or minimize claims. That’s why having a knowledgeable personal injury attorney on your side is crucial to securing proper compensation for your injuries.
