Madera, CA – A crash involving a school bus and two cars left one person with injuries on Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 2024, in Madera County, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision occurred at the intersection of Road 29 and Avenue 14, just outside Madera.
According to investigators, a school bus had stopped at the intersection, when a Chevrolet Aveo came to a halt directly behind it. Moments later, a Nissan Sentra traveling along Road 29 failed to notice the stopped vehicles and rear-ended the Chevrolet Aveo, pushing it into the back of the school bus.
CHP officers stated that the driver of the Chevrolet Aveo sustained minor injuries in the crash. The drivers of the school bus and the Nissan Sentra were unharmed. No students were reported to be on the bus at the time of the incident.
Investigators attributed the crash to the Nissan Sentra driver’s failure to see the stopped traffic ahead. Authorities are continuing their review of the incident. Drivers are reminded to maintain a safe following distance to avoid such collisions.
Failure to Yield
In California, as in other states, “failure to yield” means that you didn’t give the right of way to the right person at the right time. As such, failure to yield or stop is closely related to the “right of way.” When a motorist fails to yield, stop, or otherwise avoid an accident and causes a crash, he or she can be held liable for injuries and damages suffered by a victim.
Personal Injury Claims
After a car accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs.
A Personal Injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their cost of care. However, insurance companies usually try to reduce payouts for claims they can’t deny.
This is where a skilled personal injury attorney becomes essential, helping ensure victims get the justice and compensation they deserve.
