Infant Killed, 3 Adults Injured in Merced County Crash at Vincent Rd near Harding Rd

Merced County, CA ‒ On the evening of Tuesday, December 17, 2024, a two-vehicle crash left three adults injured and resulted in the death of an eight-month-old girl, according to KSEE.

The tragic accident took place between a gray Honda Civic and a white Toyota Highlander around 8:30 on Vincent Road, north of Harding Road,

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that, at the time of the collision, the Civic was being driven southbound on Vincent by a 20-year-old man from Delhi. Meanwhile, the Highlander was being driven northbound on Vincent by a 43-year-old Turlock woman.

Investigations suggest that the Honda briefly swerved onto Vincent’s shoulder before suddenly veering in the other direction. It crossed the double yellow line to collide with the front of the Toyota before continuing on its path and striking an iron fence. Once it came to a stop, the Honda was blocking both lanes of traffic.

The Toyota driver received transportation to a Modesto hospital for treatment of her injuries, as did the Honda driver, his front-seat passenger, and the eight-month-old girl, who was also riding in the Honda. Despite the life-saving efforts of healthcare professionals, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. It has not been stated whether impairment by alcohol or drugs may have provided a contributing factor to the fatal crash. This is an ongoing investigation.

Wrongful Death Claims

Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling.

Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses. However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve.

This is why having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential so that they can fight to make sure you receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.

If you or someone you love was harmed in an accident like the one described here, feel free to contact Maison Law for any questions or to receive a no-cost, no-obligation case assessment.
