Sutter County, CA – A multi-vehicle crash involving a tow truck and four passenger vehicles on Highway 99 south of Live Oak on Wednesday afternoon, December 18, 2024, left three people injured, according to FOX40.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision occurred around 3:15 PM near Lomo Crossing. CHP investigations suggest that the tow truck failed to slow for traffic and rear-ended a silver Subaru station wagon before sideswiping a Nissan pickup, a Hyundai SUV, and a Mazda SUV.
The Subaru’s driver, a 50-year-old woman, was initially reported unconscious, prompting emergency crews to request an air ambulance. However, by the time CHP officers arrived, the woman was conscious but bleeding from a head injury. She was transported to Adventist Health + Rideout Hospital via ground ambulance with moderate injuries.
Two other individuals, a 43-year-old man and a 29-year-old pregnant woman from separate vehicles, were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Other drivers and passengers involved in the crash reported minor pain but declined medical transport.
CHP confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation as officials work to determine the precise circumstances leading to the collision.
Personal Injury Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a personal injury claim with the responsible party’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover damages such as hospital bills and lost income during recovery.
