Sacramento, CA — An 87-year-old Sacramento man lost his life early Thursday morning, January 2, 2025, in a two-vehicle collision near the Sacramento International Airport, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the fatal accident occurred around 1 AM on the Airport Boulevard offramp of northbound Interstate 5.
According to preliminary investigations, the Sacramento man was driving a GMC Yukon when it was struck by a Ford F-150 truck. The impact caused the truck to swerve off the road and crash through a chain-link fence. Despite the quick response of emergency crews, Sacramento Fire Department medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford truck, a 32-year-old man from Yuba City, was not injured in the crash. He was later taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Authorities say that while the cause of the crash is still under investigation, driving under the influence is not believed to have been a factor.
At this time, the identity of the deceased man has not been released, pending the notification of his family. CHP investigators are continuing their work to determine the full circumstances of the crash.
Wrongful Death Claims
Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is devastating, and the pain can be made worse by the financial strain that often follows. Medical bills, funeral costs, and the loss of income to support dependents of the deceased can leave families struggling.
Filing a Wrongful Death claim against those responsible can provide compensation to help with these expenses. However, insurance companies will always try to pay as little as possible, making it difficult for families to receive the full amount they deserve.
This is why having an experienced personal injury attorney is essential so that they can fight to make sure you receive fair compensation and justice for your loved one.
