Courtland, CA — The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified 56-year-old Fairfield man Thomas Jule Flores as the motorcyclist who lost his life in a collision on Saturday evening, January 11, 2025, in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident took place around 5:40 PM, near the Sutter Slough Bridge which spans the Sacramento River on the border of Sacramento and Yolo counties, close to South River Road.
Preliminary investigations seem to indicate that Flores was traveling across the bridge when his motorcycle collided with its side. Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances, including whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
Officials have not released additional details about the moments leading up to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.
California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
