Sacramento, CA – A three-vehicle crash on Monday evening, January 13, 2025, resulted in one loss of life and left two others injured, according to KCRA.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reports that the incident took place around 6:49 PM near the intersection of Jackson Highway and Ione Road.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a woman driving a Toyota northbound on Ione Road stopped at the stop sign before turning left onto Jackson Highway. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), she collided with a Buick that was traveling westbound on Jackson Highway, which did not have a stop sign.
The impact of the crash caused the Buick to be pushed into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with a Ford pickup truck. The driver of the Buick, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford pickup, a woman, was transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries. The woman driving the Toyota was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
At this time, authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
