Madera County, CA – A 55-year-old Coarsegold resident lost their life in a crash on Highway 41 Sunday morning, January 19, 2025, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 9:15 AM at the intersection of Highway 41 and Road 209.
CHP investigators reported that a 63-year-old Fresno resident was driving a white 2000 Honda Civic southbound on Highway 41 as the Coarsegold resident, in a blue 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, was heading northbound and preparing to turn left toward Road 209.
As the Chevrolet made the left turn, it crossed directly into the path of the Honda. The Honda driver attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid a collision, striking the Chevrolet on its right front side.
The Coarsegold resident was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
