Modesto, CA – On Tuesday evening, February 4, 2025, a motorcyclist identified as 46-year-old Christopher Cross of Modesto lost his life in a collision with a car, according to The Modesto Bee.
The Modesto Police Department reports that the crash occurred around 7:30 PM at the intersection of Sylvan Avenue and Carson Oak Drive, just west of Oakdale Road.
Emergency responders arrived to find Cross critically injured and transported him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. He was later identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the sedan, a Nissan Altima, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and the investigation is ongoing. They are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
