San Andreas, CA — On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 4, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 12 resulted in the death of a woman and left another person seriously injured, according to ABC10.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:45 PM near Central Hill Road. A Chevrolet Silverado, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a Dodge Ram were involved.
According to investigators, the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound in the fast lane at approximately 50 miles per hour. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was headed eastbound at the same speed. Wet road conditions were reported at the time of the crash.
The Chevrolet attempted to change lanes but quickly swerved back upon noticing another vehicle in the slow lane. The driver lost control, crossed the double yellow lines, and sideswiped the Jeep before continuing into the eastbound lane, where it struck the Dodge Ram head-on.
Emergency responders transported a passenger in the Dodge Ram to Mark Twain Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained major injuries and was taken to San Joaquin General Hospital.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
Wrongful Death Claims
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
