Body Recovered after Fatal Crash into Sacramento River near River, Twin cities Rd in Walnut Grove

Walnut Grove, CA – On the evening of Monday, February 3, 2025, a vehicle crash resulted in one man losing his life after his car plunged into the Sacramento River, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 5:45 PM near River and Twin Cities roads.

Authorities said the driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was inside a two-door BMW when it veered off the road and into the river. Witnesses reported seeing the man inside the vehicle before it became fully submerged.

Search efforts began Monday evening but were delayed due to poor water conditions. Recovery teams located the submerged vehicle on Wednesday but waited until conditions improved before attempting to retrieve it.

On Thursday morning, dive teams pulled the vehicle from the river and found the driver deceased inside. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the man and notify his family.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.

California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
