Motorcyclist Robert McPherson, 63, Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash near West Texas, First Street in Fairfield

Fairfield, CA – On the night of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, a motorcycle collision in Fairfield left one man dead after a vehicle turned in front of him, according to CBS13.

The Fairfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 8:05 PM near the intersection of West Texas Street and First Street.

Officials say 63-year-old Robert McPherson was riding westbound on West Texas Street when a vehicle traveling eastbound entered the center turn lane to make a left turn into a Circle K gas station. The vehicle turned directly in front of McPherson, causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced McPherson dead. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle, a 68-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. After being screened for drugs and alcohol, officials determined that impairment was not a factor in the crash.

West Texas Street was closed for several hours between Pennsylvania Avenue and Gregory Lane while authorities conducted their investigation. The roadway has since reopened. Officials continue to investigate the crash and ask anyone with additional information to contact the Fairfield Police Department.

Wrongful Death Claims

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.

Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
