Madera County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, March 17, 2025, a single-vehicle crash left at least one person dead after a car veered off Road 28 1/2 and Avenue 18, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 12:25 PM when a blue four-door sedan left the roadway and crashed into a fence before coming to a stop in a nearby field. Emergency medical services and the California Department of Forestry were notified and dispatched to the scene.
Authorities have not released information about additional injuries or potential passengers in the vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and officials have not determined whether weather conditions, speed, or other factors contributed to the accident.
Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
