Woman Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on I-985 near Queen City Pkwy, Candler Rd in Gainesville

Gainesville, GA – On the morning of Monday, March 3, 2025, a 58-year-old Gainesville woman suffered serious injuries in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver, according to WSB-TV.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reports that the accident occurred around 8:30 AM on Interstate 985 near Queen City Parkway and Candler Road.

GSP stated that the woman was driving a Jeep Cherokee southbound on Interstate 985 when a northbound Ram 1500 pickup, driven by Robert Jordan Breda, 35, of Jefferson, veered into the median.

Breda’s truck allegedly traveled up an embankment, struck the cable barriers, and crossed into the southbound lanes where it collided with the woman’s Jeep, causing both to overturn. The Jeep came to rest on the cable barriers in the median, while the pickup stopped on the shoulder of I-985 south.

Emergency responders found that the woman had received serious injuries and provided her with transportation to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officials suspect that Breda may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, and serious injury by vehicle before being booked into the Hall County Jail.

Anyone involved in a crash like this should be aware of their legal rights after a crash.
