Crash with Big Rig Kills 1 at SR-223, General Beale Rd in Kern County

Kern County, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a fatal collision involving a sedan and a big rig resulted in at least one death, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 7:47 PM near the intersection of State Route 223 and General Beale Road. 

A gray Saturn sedan collided with a big rig hauling approximately 60,000 pounds of produce. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway, and debris was scattered across the scene. 

One individual was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. 

CHP requested heavy-duty towing services for the damaged big rig and coordinated with the coroner’s office, which remained on scene for several hours. 

The crash remains under investigation.
