Nevada City, CA – In the early morning of Thursday, April 17, 2025, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the incident occurred around 4:08 AM near State Route 20 and Scotts Flat Road.
Initial calls indicated a vehicle fire, with one witness reporting a tree on fire. Fire crews arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle had collided with a tree.
At approximately 4:45 AM, the Nevada County Coroner’s Office was notified, and CHP later confirmed the incident as a fatality. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
