Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025, a two-vehicle collision resulted in at least one fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:05 PM near the intersection of State Route 184 and East Wilson Road.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find two vehicles involved in the crash, including a white pickup truck that was reportedly smoking after the impact.
The collision led to a full road closure in both directions between Muller Road and Red Bank Road as fire crews and law enforcement managed the scene. The fire department responded and blocked both northbound and southbound lanes, while Caltrans initiated a hard closure for cleanup and investigation.
The coroner was notified and arrived on the scene at approximately 10:42 PM to confirm the fatality. The names of the individuals involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. No additional details have been released.
