Sebastopol, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, April 26, 2025, a two-vehicle collision involving a Hummer and a Honda sedan resulted in a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:58 PM on Occidental Road near Green Hill Road.
One vehicle caught fire following the crash, and both directions of Occidental Road were blocked. Authorities requested closures at Occidental Road’s intersections with Barlow Road and Mill Station Road to manage the scene.
Responding units found the Hummer overturned and the Honda sedan with major front-end damage. Fire department personnel worked to extract a deceased individual from one of the vehicles.
The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
