Bodega Bay, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, April 26, 2025, a single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality near the intersection of State Route 1 and State Route 116, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:32 PM.
A Ford Ranger was found down a 40-foot ravine with a flat tire, and the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency responders from the local sheriff’s department and fire department extricated the driver at approximately 3:02 PM. Despite efforts to render aid, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Tow services were called to assist in the recovery of the vehicle, which was described as fully submerged in rough terrain off the highway. A portion of the roadway remained restricted while crews worked to retrieve the vehicle.
The deceased individual’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and no additional vehicles were reported to be involved.
